The touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 5 has stopped working

The touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 5 stopped working. I updated all drivers from Lenovvo Vintage but no luck until I did a Window troubleshooot and after a restart it started to work again. However, after a while, the mouse pointer disapeared and I now have the same issue.

Device manager has an error for the touchpad device (I2C HID Device):

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A request for the HID descriptor failed.

There are 3 error events for the device when it first failed.

First:

Device ACPI\MSFT0001\1 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Re: The touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 5 has stopped working

I could fix it again like this:
1. Uninstall the touchpad from device manager.
2. Run windows troubleshoot. This adds back the touchpad to the device manager but it still wouldn't work and would show some error next to it in the device manager.
3. Restart! Touchpad starts working again and there are no errors in the device manager.
Let see how long it will work now...

Re: The touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 5 has stopped working

Hello OmidS! Welcome to the Community forums! Nice work on the steps you've taken so far. If still having problems please try downloading the latest chipset here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/fr/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/flex-series/flex-5-1570/downloads

This can also be due to a corrupt file you can try running sfc /scannow in Command prompt with administrative rights. Here's how: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-sfc-command-utility-fix-system-files-windows-10

But again, take only the extra steps if you are still having problems with the touchpad. We're happy to help.

Re: The touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 5 has stopped working

The touchpad stopped working after a few days again and neither my previous solution nor Hassen_Lenovo's solution works now.

I suspect this may be a hardware issue since even the trackpad also doesn't work in an ubuntu live image.
