USB not working at all

ideapad 520-15IKB, windows 10

my usb ports aren't working at all. they just stopped out of the blue. i've tried troubleshooting, updating, using intel's driver and support assistant, enabling and disabling, and nothing's helped. i'm not sure what's wrong.

i plug in my phone or my drawing tablet, and neither actually show up in device manager and my laptop doesn't tell me it's updating drivers for them either. they work fine on my desktop, so it's nothing wrong with the phone or tablet. the usb ports themselves do show up in device manager.

any advice? does anyone know what's going on?

then

Access BIOS and reset it: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/troubleshoot/lpt000353 

 

If still persists, download and install latest BIOS version.

 

If machine type is 80YL, download BIOS here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/500-series/520-15ikb/downloads

 

If machine type is 81BF, download BIOS here:

There are a few different reasons why you might be experiencing this type of failure. Try to reboot your computer into Safe Mode with networking , and then see if the USB ports work there. If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue and it's not hardware.

thank you for answering! it's still a problem in safe mode, so i'm guessing it's a hardware issue and i'll take it in to be fixed soon. sucks, but, at least i know i did pretty much all i could
