Windows 10 – “0% available - plugged in, charging." Flex 3 1480

About three days ago my Flex 3 1480 stopped charging its battery. This message appears above the taskbar battery icon:  “0% available - plugged in, charging." 


The computer now only comes on with the ac power adapter plugged in. I have used another adapter (identical specs) with the same negative result on my computer.  My adapter works fine on the other computer.


These are fixes recommended at various internet sites that I have tried without success:


  1. System restore to a point several days before problem appeared.
  2. Uninstalled both battery drivers in Device Manager and restart reinstalled - three times.


The battery is internal so I would like to fix without having to remove the battery if possible. Resetting the battery and resetting the bios are on-line recommendations that I don’t really know how to do safely.


In searching the Lenovo site, I have been unable to find this problem addressed. The Lenovo Vantage Hardware Scan shows all in good order – the battery itself is rated Good.


The Flex 3 is 2 years old and is now out of warranty.


Any help to correct and get the battery charging would be appreciated.
