Won't run on charger/power adapter Flex 4-1470

14 month old Flex 4-1470 Laptop will not operate if the charger/power adapter is plugged in.  Immediately powers off.  Runs fine on battery.

Battery almost dead.  Tried to do BIOS update - but that requires AC power!  Have replaced the AC adapter - no change.

Re: Won't run on charger/power adapter Flex 4-1470

Hi Jharris91

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Having it isolated with a known good adapter would leave the systemboard.

I suggest that you call in technical support for further isolation and repair since it may be an issue with the board or parts of it like the dc in port or power board and cable.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Won't run on charger/power adapter Flex 4-1470

Had called tech support. They said find a local repair shop. They were not much help. Tried taking apart a pulling the battery. Holding power switch on. Still won't work from adapter. Will throw this away and buy another brand. THANKS for your advice.

Re: Won't run on charger/power adapter Flex 4-1470

Hi Jharris91,

Greetings.

If the warranty has expired, tech support do not have tools to process any repair thus your local service center can be a better option (less shipping expense and time). Again this may just be a power board or dc in cable issue if not the motherboard.

In any case other parts like LCD ram and harddrive even the chassis could get a good price to add for a newer laptop so best to reconsider just throwing it away.

Please don't hesitate to visit our community at anytime.
