Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Welcome to the Forums Raynpatel

Does it come back on if you tap a few keys?

If it comes back on when you tap a few keys, it is likely turning off to save power.

If it does NOT come back on without a reboot, you may have a hardware issue. It is possible it could be software related, so you could try to restore it with the recovery discs (which must be burned from the laptop, or support can send you some).

Update us how it goes.

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Same here. Picked this unit up June 11th. Have been in touch with Lenovo customer service trying to fix this issue. Screen turns off, at random, no rhyme or reason. No specific time interval. It could be five minutes, twenty minutes, ten minutes. New driver, roll back driver, BIOS reflash, reinstall operating system...twice, settings changes, turrn sleep off, and back on again.....I really want to love this computer, but it is giving me a headache. I have determined that this issue only appears to happen on battery, and not when plugged in.

Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Brad

no, It does not come back if I pressed keys , even I tried to off num key but It doesn't turn off as well,
Then after, all I want to do is turn off the laptop by holding off button from right side edge ,

I sent my laptop 3 months before, still it's not being fixed

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Check the BIOS version. I contacted support tonight, spoke to a woman named Adi, who determined that the BIOS on my machine (that was an automatic flash on the second boot ever) was incorrect. She had me enable back flashing in the BIOS, installed the proper version from the website, ensured that I was using the proper graphics driver (20.19.15.4352), and we are crossing our fingers. So far, so good. We'll see......

I'll keep you posted.

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Didn't work. The next day my video driver was updated by Windows with the "4364" release, which I was told by Lenovo was a beta driver and was causing the screen to go black without warning. Another call t Lenovo is in order. I am running out of patience. Two weeks of issues is unacceptable. Lenovo is very helpful and courteous, but I would really like to get this issue solved once and for all.

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Last night I went to the Intel website and found a newer graphics driver. It ends in "4463". I installed it last night, and all went well. I'm using it now, and so far no black screens, but I'm not letting my guard down. Fingers crossed.....

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Hi there, Rayn –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

First you have to enable the "Bios Back Flash" option in the bios and then you can flash the Bios with same or older version.

I tried and it's worked

.

The latest available version is the D3CN32WW on the Lenovo site

Update us how it goes.

Re: edge 2 1580 display randomly off

Well, we're not there yet, but we're getting better.....

It seems that with the new driver, the screen will stay on for a couple of hours, then will black out at about 50 percent battery. Again...this issue happens ONLY on battery, and NOT when plugged in to the charger.

The idea behind a laptop is mobility...and not be tied down to a power cord. There HAS to be a fix for this issue. Between Lenovo, Intel, and Windows, someone has to come up with a fix.

Any Lenovo techs reading this post have any ideas?

Brad
