I purchased this laptop new just a couple of months ago and already having a serious problem. I went to turn it on today and the power light comes on but that is all. It makes no sound and the display stays dark. It was fully charged when I shut it off last night so I know that wasn't an issue but I plugged it in anyway to make sure. I have manually shut it off by holding the power button in and the power light goes out, but same thing when I push it again. Not sure what to do but I hate to return it because I have important things saved that I hadn't backed up recently. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi footballchief ,
I would rather encourage you to call in technical support once you have you files backed up.
Test if there would be any display connecting to any external monitor.
If the same , Use the novo button to power on (item11 page 70) while off.
Call technical support and get your repair options , inform them that you have important data inside the drive.
Without the harddrive , try to turn it on and see if there would be any display.
If there is then you may place back your drive and restart.
Update us how it goes for you best.

Definitely remove the HD and have it backed up before sending it into Lenovo., Most good local computer shops can do that for you in a jiffy by just placing it in a USB HD cradle and burning your data to a DVD or USB key, so definitely get that done before sending it in for repair.

Hi footballchief ,
Genrally it will not void warranty as long as nothing gets damage during and after the process as it is being done in most upgrade . But as mentioned before, call in technical support to inform them that you need your data and you are planning to remove the harddrive in the process.
You can verify them about this at the same time.
