ideapad 700-15ISK / E5CN59WW bios update / critical error

Hello,

I just updated my 700-15ISK to the latest bios E5CN29WW and I thought it went OK.

But everytime when the laptop is completely turned off and on it throws following error:

03C00252: Boot Manager recover from critical error.

Some essential variables are absent or corrupted and Boot Manager has been restored from default configuration.

Press F1 to continue or F2 to Enter Setup.

It will boot up just fine to Windows 10 if I select F1 to continue, though.

Thank you in advance.

Hello there,

Hope I'm welcome in the club.

Issue after BIOS update

03C00252:

Boot Manager recovery from critical error.

Some essential variables are absent or corrupted and boot manager has restored them from default configuration.
Press F1 or F2 to enter SetUp.

It is not clear where this error message originates, but it could be coming from the Windows Boot Manager.  So I would suggest that you try booting from the "Windows 10 Recovery Drive" (the USB memory stick), and see if the Windows repair option can remedy the problem.

Are you sure that the boot options as defined in the BIOS are the same as they were before the BIOS update?  UEFI or legacy?  Boot device order?

Re: ideapad 700-15ISK / E5CN59WW bios update / critical error

Same problem with my 700 laptop.

Updated the BIOS (from 58WW to 59WW) yesterday to remedy the keystroke problem and it appears to have introduced the error on boot up:

"03C00252: Boot Manager recover from critical error."

Have attempted to change various settings in the F2 Setup options but drawn a blank so far.

Bit annoying getting the loud beep and having to select F1 every time I power up the machine.

Please help.

I don't know what the problem is, but you could try the following:

(1) Enter BIOS setup.

(2) On the "Exit" tab, change "OS Optimised Defaults" to "Enable".

(3) Move the focus to "Load Default Settings" and press the RETURN or ENTER key.

(4) Exit the BIOS setup, saving the changes.

Does the system boot correctly now?  If it does not:

(5) Enter BIOS setup.

(6) On the "Boot" tab, change "Boot Mode" to "Legacy Support".

(7) Exit the BIOS setup, saving the changes.

(8) Power off the system.

(9) Plug in the USB memory stick that contains the "Windows Recovery Drive".

(10) Press the "Novo" button to show the "Novo Button Menu".

(11) On the "Novo Button Menu", select "Boot Menu".

(12) On the "Boot Menu", the USB memory stick should be listed.  It will probably be listed twice, but one will have the string "EFI".  Select that one to boot from.

(13) The Windows Recovery Environment will boot from the memory stick.  Choose the option to cause Windows to try to repair your system.  Hopefully this will be successful.

Re: ideapad 700-15ISK / E5CN59WW bios update / critical error
