I bought an Ideapad 310 4 months ago, and from the first moment I used it I have gotten about 2 hours out of a full batter charge, at best. I've tried going into the settings to optomize the battery life without success. I only use the computer for email, internet, and basic power point. I do not play any games or movies. Is this just a cheap battery issue or are there any suggestions?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Setting the brightness to maybe 80% sure helps a lot with unplugging other connected devices like headphone etc.
If there is any scheduled task like updates or downloads, best to do it when connected with an ac charger.
If you feel that the battery still discharge a lot than expected even when following the guidelines then you can give technical support a call so that they can check the battery performance and likewise provide other recommendations.
Hope this helps answer your query.

I bought this ideapad 310 around late November/early December 2017 (last year). It's basically useless unless plugged in. I complained, got phone support where tech was able to remotely identify defective battery, issued RMA, sent in (at my own expense, which Lenovo never reimbursed...). Apparently they replaced battery and returned, fairly quickly; a little over a week, but still no reimbursement for "warranty repair". Anyway, not much better as max battery life for even minimum usage is at best, a littl over an hour, so something is still very wrong; either lousy battery or just overall lousy engineering, which is sad, because everything else works great. I'm just highly disappointed & unsatisfied with lousy battery life. Unless Lenovo is ever willing to fix, exchange or reimburse or make right, I'll never buy any other Lenovo products. This cost me over $400.00 and not being able to use well or for any good length of time unless plugged in is terrible. I could've purchased a cheap desktop barebones system if I wanted that.
