Many computers will fail a LAN test if there is no active LAN connection present. It only means there is no connection present. If you have a LAN connection and it fails then, there may be an issue that needs to be addressed.
This used to happen a lot when testing serial and parallel ports if you did not have a loopback adapter. They do sell Ethernet loopback adapters for testing LAN connections. I have never tried one, but if you are really concerned about it, purchase one and try the test again. You can also make one yourself.

I am getting the same verbal warning (differt code) but I am/was connected to an active LAN now and during the test. The network is an newly establsihed Uverse network and two other computers, a Surface, TVs, readers etc. are connected with no real problems just this Lenovo test warning. Does it require any action?

Nope. As long as everything in your network connection works fine, then there is no problem. It could be something as simple as the signal being blocked by your firewall. Or your modem / router is ignoring the signal.

Take a look at this, https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht076691
Basically it means, as said above, that it's failing because there is no connection. Can't the tool be modified to figure out when it
