For all those who have been frustrated with the lack of Lenovo response and solution to damaging Iomega Home Network Drives by installing an approved firmware upgrade and then finding access difficult - if not impossible ( my case) - here is my solution to getting your data back. I dont know if it will work in all cases but if none of the other solutions work ( reset, network cable plug in after boot, arp-a use to find an IP etc. etc. ) here is what worked for me to get my data back.
1. Remove the drive from the network interface casing
2. Buy a USB SATA disc interface or take out the SATA drive from an existing USB disc interface
3. Re-install the Home Network drive in the USB interface hardware
4.Download Parted Magic iso file ( $ 9.00) and burn it to a CD - you can use the right click Burn the file option under Windows 8
5.Plug the Home Network drive to a USB connection
6.Load the Parted Magic software ( stand alone operating system) from your CD using the Boot CD option under Windows ( you will have an F key option to access at start-up time)
I found that my drive could not be accessible using the Disk Health program but I COULD ACCESS ALL all the data files using the File Manager program. My volume It was listed as the 2.0 TB Volume, clicking on this revealed ALL my shares and files and I was able to email them after connecting to the internet.
Thanks to Parted Magic software creators this has saallowd me to recover my data.
It obviously requires that the DATA partition is valid on the drive - it appears the directory partition on my drive was damaged by the firmware upgrade - Thanks Lenovo !
I have yet to find out how to connect my new NON-LENOVO network drive inside the Parted Magic system to allow a disc to disc transfer but my major relief is that I know I can get to my data. I havent tried all data types but all those tried so far worked.
Hope this helps
