Re: Iomega Home Media Hard Drive Cloud Edition - no connection to internet

Hello ragonarf,

You are sort of over thinking this test.  What I was looking to do was simply disconnect the NAS from your local network, then run an external port check again.

If port forwarding is setup correctly the ports should show as open with or without the local device connected to the router/firewall.  The idea was to see if your home media was somehow causing the 50500-50599 ports to report back as closed.

Trying other routers would be more of a phase II of this test  if the ports still reported as blocked.

No real need to try it from another location/isp, though you could if you wanted though to rule out your specific connection.  If you are still having port issues after trying the above, it would be highly recommended that you contact your ISP to check on port blocking, Comcast is one of the ISP's known to block ports on consumer internet connections.

Steve

Thanks for clarifying, but it came back on last night without me doing a
thing.apparently whatever was wrong on your end closed those ports 50500 and
50599; when Lenovo fixed whatever they fixed it solved all the problems.
