Iomega ix4-200d Software MacOS (Not Firmware)

2020-05-12, 15:23 PM

My ix4-200d has been idle for years and I want to use it again. I do not have the management software disk (and this version is not supported by the current MacOS)  and will also need to update the firmware. Where can I find the management programme that will work with the latest version of MacOS 10.15.4? If this is a no-go, is there another way to get this NAS up and running again? Thanks!

Hi

I've personally never used the management software in Windows or Mac and usually connect directly.

With Mac, you would go through Finder and in the menu Go->Connect to Server... and enter something this to access Windows SMB shares (replace value between <> with your info):

smb://<IP address or network-name.local> and it'll ask you for the credentials to connect to it.

For firmware updates, know that there are two versions of the ix4-200d:

  1. The ix4-200d - If nothing else specified, it's the NON-CE (as in NON- Cloud Edition) version
    • The last firmware update version is currently 2.1.50.30227 and can be found here.

  2. the ix4-200d CE or Cloud Edition
    • The last firmware update version is currently 3.2.16.30221 and can be found here.

You cannot use the firmware for one to use on the other so you will need to select accordingly.

The firmware updates are normally done via the NAS' Web Interface via http//<IP address or network-name.local> and once logged in, go to All Features->Software Updates

Hope it helps

Great help, thanks. I'm not experienced with this detail of computer work. Any chance you could give me more detail on how to acmes the ix4-200 directly. Not sure where I can find the necessary details and credentials.

Looking at the ix4-200d user manual provided by Lenovo here, page 9, it says:

3. Reset Button: Hold the RESET button for four seconds to reset security and network settings. This allows you to regain access if network settings are incorrect or you've forgotten your password.

Once the device is reset, you will see the device's IP address in the LCD screen and with that information on hand, go to your browser and type:  http://<IP address>

Once logged in, you will be able to set it up to your liking.

I would suggest starting from page 17 "Getting Started" from the PDF manual linked above.

This helped me too

Super help - thanks. It is up and running after several years of sitting in the cupboard!
