Iomega ix4-200d not recognizing 8T USB Drive

2019-09-04, 11:53 AM

Good Morning,

I have two Iomega ix4-200d NASs. I am trying to connect an USB 3.0 8T Seagate Expansion drive (NTFS) for offsite backups.

NAS #1 recognizes the drive but NAS #2 does not.

From what I’ve read, there appears to be different versions of this NAS, and I believe I’m working with one of each.

NAS #1 has firmware version There is also a sticker on the back that says “w/cloud, new hardware w/out hard drive”

NAS#2 has firmware version The sticker on the back only says “w/out hard drive”.

NAS #2 did recognize a 500 GB 2.0/3.0 drive, leading me to believe that the 8T size is a problem (I’m assuming the 2.0/3.0 labelling is irrelevant.)

Not sure that a firmware update would do any good. There doesn’t seem to be any relevant changes between and, and the 3.xx ones don’t look appropriate.  Here are the firmware downloads for reference:

My main goal is just to have the USB drive recognized. Does anyone have any ideas for what the issue is and/or fix?
