Unable to access web interface StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Edition

2013-10-11, 7:35 AM
As of a few weeks ago I was unable to access my web inter face on my nas. I can't manage the nas cause I didn't have ssh or anything on. I don't want to have to copy all my data off and reset the whole device. When I am not even sure if the answer. From what I have googled and read lots of people are having the issue but no one has solved it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to help me.

Hi Ultimatenerd1,

I would try connecting the device directly to your computer.

Instructions to Direct Connect to NAS:

Unplug the NAS from the router

unplug the pc from the router (if the pc is wireless, disable wireless)

Using Ethernet Cable, plug the NAS directly into the pc with no other devices attached.

Restart the NAS and wait for it to boot COMPLETELY 100%

The NAS will request an address from the PC which will be an APIPA address (this is a 169. address)

Open up your Start Menu and type in CMD in the search bar and select the CMD program.

Type in "arp -a" in the cmd prompt

The first time you use the arp -a in a cmd prompt, it gives you the 169.x.x.x address of "The PC"

You may have to  arp -a  twice to get the NAS address.

The second time you use the arp -a I will get another APIPA address in the 169.x.x.x address

Take the new address and use it in the web browser just like normal to access the device.

If the device is still not responding, you can reset the device using the button on the back and holding it down for 5-10 seconds or until the device reboots. This is not data destructive.

Any further troubleshooting may cause loss of data. If you are concerned about your data, I would recommend data recovery or contacting technical support.

It might be a firmware corruption, in which case you will need to contact technical support.

Does the device boot properly? Does it show the IP address on the display? Are you connecting using Storage Manager or by putting the IP address in a web browser? You can also try using "https://" instead of "http://".

You can try the procedure below, but I would make sure that your data is backed up first. If data is not a concern, then it is not an issue and proceed. If you are concerned about the data on the device, I would contact technical support or take the disks to a data recovery service.

If the device is not responding, proceed with the following instructions:

Power down the device and reseat all the drives in the device. Power the device back on.

If this doesn’t allow unit to boot, continue with below process.

    1. Turn off the device and pull out all the drives.

    2. Place any other drive 2, 3 or 4 in the first slot and boot up the device.

    3. Wait for sometime as the boot-up process can be slow.

             a. If it doesn’t boot, try another disk in slot 1.

   4. If it boots up correctly, insert another disk in slot 2.

            - Check UI for disk detection.
            a. If second disk is detected, turn it off, place disk 3 and 4 in unit and boot up.
            b. If it doesn’t boot-up correctly, remove 3 or 4 and retry. You may need to try to determine if 3 or 4 is bad in this case.

   5. Recreate the volume if it doesn’t start regenerating automatically

It sounds like the web server is down on the device. Have you tried shutting down the device completely and rebooting?

Is this device still in warranty? The firmware will most likely need to be reimaged or replace the device if necessary.

I have three StorCenters. Same problem occurred with all when I updated the firmware to the latest version.  I don't think it has anything to do with your hardware - the new software is not allowing web interface access.

My Anwser to all of this problems was to remove all my data and reformat all the drives using a USB stick.
