ix2-200 Data reconstruction keeps resetting...

2021-01-02, 15:02 PM

Hi All, and Happy New Year!

I have an ix2-200 that I've been using for probably 10 years now and over the course of that time I've had to replace each drive, with no difficulty.

I recently had a hard drive failure and had to purchase a replacement drive. The original drive was a Seagate ST2000NV000, and the replacement drive I purchased was a Seagate ST2000NV004 (identical as far as I can tell from the specs). The problem is that the data reconstruction has now reset twice once it gets to approximately 25% (the other "issue" is that it takes 24 hours to get to 25%... but that's a story for another day). There's nothing in the event log or any other message to indicate any problem - the new drive seems to be properly identified...

I've been running the same firmware for the last several years: 2.1.48.30125 (If there's anything more recent, I'd love to try it...).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Suggestions for getting it back up and functional (during reconstruction, the drive is not available from Windows)?

Thanks for any feedback/suggestions/help,

Steve

Yes, they are. It's now been about 6 reset cycles the unit has gone through... I'm wondering if it would if I were to format the drive externally before putting it back in the enclosure...

My other option would be to try to recover the contents of the remaining functional disk somehow, perhaps by removing it from the unit and copying the contents to another disk ...

1 disk left in mirrored status should also works fine. Have you tried to reboot the system?

Otherwise, I think there're some issues on this new disk. Maybe try another one.
