ix2 crash

2015-07-18, 21:22 PM

I have a ix2 with a single 2GB drive. The HDD crashed unfortunately, making a ticking sound of death and my computer is also unable to load the drive. So far so good.

Tried to install a new drive (approved), however, the NAS boots a few seconds, the fan start to spin, and then the the white light changes to red (continuous) and everything stopped. The disk is empty, "cleaned", and perfectly working before on my PC. When I boot the NAS without disks, the red light also turns on after a few seconds.

What is wrong with my ix2?

Addon: the device does not connect to my network..

Hello gijtenbeek_rolo,

Is this a diskless model?

If it is not, it will not boot without at least one of the original drives.

When you said the drive was cleaned, did you try the DiskPart, "clean all" command?

Hello Gus_Lenovo,

I bought it with one disk, that's the disk that crashed. I do not have an other disk.
The new disk is factory new. I used the "clear all", just to be sure, but its not working.
What I think I need is a USB boot device which installs some firmware on the new disk, but I'm unable to find it anywhere..

gijtenbeek_rolo,

You would need to contact you local support for access to an imager:
https://lenovo-eu-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14722

I'm pretty much limited to giving advice here.

As an alternate source, you could try a site like:
http://www.nas-central.org/wiki/Main_Page

0 person found this solution to be helpful.

This helped me too

Lenovo solved the problem by sending me a new device.

Hi If there is anyone who can help!

My IX2 has failed! The status light comes on white then goes to solid red.
this happens with HDs in or out. I cannot reset the drive. I cannot access NAS drive.
I tried to retrieve data from drives, but I cannot read those drives in Windows or Mac OS.
Do I need some kind of software to retrieve the data? There is no help for IX2 now it seems!

The problem is that the site does not have a file for creating a bootable USB drive, the file must be obtained from the support service.
