ix2-dl maximum disk size

2019-03-04, 9:11 AM

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo (actually iomega with latest new firmware) ix2-dl, but currently configured with 1x WD40EZRX and 1x WD20EARX, configured as spanned volume. That was a bad choice which i want to review.

I was planning to start using the device in mirrored raid, with 2x ST8000VN0022 (Seagate IronWolf 8tb) OR 2x WD80EFAX (Western Digital Red 8TB).

Unfortunately, the list of approved disks for the ix2 only lists disks up to 6TB. Does this mean the ix2 only supports 6TB of single disk size, or is the list just a little out-dated?

http://download.lenovo.com/lenovoemc/eu/nl/app/answers/detail/a_id/32274.html

Hopefully someone is able to tell me more about the supported disk sizes.

Kind regards,

Verbatim

Do you have a diskless version? I heard there are problems with the ones that come with disks pre-installed.

I was able to find someone online that has confirmed a 8TB drive works on the latest firmware.
I know DOS all the way back to 3.0...

And I'll add to this with my own personal experience on an ix2-dl running 4.1.102.29716 that a Seagate Exos 8TB model ST8000NM0055-1RM112, firmware SN05 works like a charm with write speeds of 35MB/s as measured by Lan_speedtest under xp and win 7, and read speeds of 45MB/s in xp and almost 80MB/s in win 7.

I have a 12TB Seagate I haven't yet had a chance to try in the ix2, but I may have a 16TB drive to try instead.  Stay tuned...
