ix4 300D last firmware Lifeline

2020-05-13, 12:57 PM
I downloaded the final firmware for the ix4 which crashed it. Now it seems it's no longer supported and I can't get any help from Lenovo support despite having a case number. Does anyone have the Lifeline version so I can at least try to resurrect it?

Hi daylef,

As you already know, the latest firmware update Version 4.1.414.34909 can be found here:

http://download.lenovo.com/nas/lifeline/h4c-4.1.414.34909.tgz

With that, the latest imager with that version can be found here:

https://download.lenovo.com/nasupdate/asgimage/h4c-4.1.414.34909.zip

WARNING: The reimaging process will most likely destroy your data so be sure to read the accompanying information that's packaged with the zip before doing anything.

Hi and thanks for responding. Unfortunately it's the same problem I've already encountered. I get "403- Forbidden: Access is denied". I know Lenovo have to grant permission to gain access.

I found a way to download the imager and loaded it on to a USB stick but unfortunatelyit stops at "No zImage". I tried and older version which did the same thing. I think at this stage we'll part company permanently and relegate it to the bin. I've changed to QNAP as a result of all the problems I've had but wanted to give the ix4 one last chance. Cheers

The imager is different from the firmware upgrade zip.

The firmware upgrade zip is encrypted and is used "as is" in the web interface where as the imager, you will need to unzip it on your computer and you will find an executable (and documentation if I recall correctly)  that essentially "prepares" a USB key for you to be used as a reimager.

OK, the plot thickens. I booted from a old image and got the USB failure as stated. I inserted 2 x 750MB 2.5 inch drives, just for the hell of it and it booted but struggled. After a further reset, it started to format the two drives and I could log in. As I type, it looks to be functioning. Amazing...
