Hiding an IX2 "shares" ??

Hi Folks,

I have a old IX2 that's been just great but I have a quesiton .......

In creating the Copy Jobs for moving data from XYZ computer on the network to a specific folder/share on an IX2 ......

Do you HAVE to create a "Share" ?  Or is it possable to just make a named folder on the IX2 and then tell the Copy Job

utility to run as normal to that new folder on the IX2?

My reason for asking it to try to create a hidden folder on my IX2 so if you are networking on one of the computers,

you'd see the IX2 as a device on the network ( in my case I called it VAULT )  but if you browse to the unit you wouldn't

see the named "Share" on the drive or see it's contents.

My reason for asking was I got hit by Phobos ransomware and it hit the IX2 as well.

( got everything back becasue of some old HD's laying around )

I'd like to protect the IX2 from getting hit again if that's possable.  If the shares have to be on the network and visable

on the IX2 is there a way to copy the data weekly using the Copy Jobs utiltiy as normal but LOCK the files compleatly

so that they an't be renamed or encrypted?

Cheers'
Dave
