I have a defective HDD Seagate ST2000DM001. there are in total 4 drives in a RAID 5 array, This model is no longer available, so I bought a ST2000DM006, same capacity same geometry, same rotational speed, is just a newer version of the old model. The rebuild process starts, and advances till almost 100%, but does not finish properly, it says there is an error, and then rebuild process restarts. It has been doing that for almost a week. Is there a solution to make this device work again? how tdo I rebuild the array (I have already backed up all data), so I can destroy array and start from scratch.

You can do a simple factory reset. Once complete, update your firmware (preferably only if you're still on a really old version), before you configure a new array of your choice.
