Audio Crackling Problem Lenovo z70

2015-04-04, 14:35 PM

Hello,

Whenever I play a computer game (Starcraft 2 & Skyrim in this case) the audio on my 3-week old Lenovo Z70 "crackles." There is a popping sound that continues, even when the sound is turned down all the way. I tried the solution proposed here for another Lenovo laptop, by limiting the highest power settings for the computer: solution, but that did not work for me. I hear the popping and crackling through my headphones and also when it is simply playing through the speaers.

Drivers for the Conextant audio and speakers say that they are fully updated.

Any help would be appreciated!

Bump - Anyone have any possible solutions here? It's been getting even worse when playing games (but not besides that).

UPDATE: I uninstalled my the video card driver and while it still pops somewhat when playing games, the crackling is not nearly as consistent. The games are running on lower quality off the the on-board video card instead of the Nvidia 840M. C

I've done almost everything I can think of to try and solve this. I've tried to run the computer after uninstalling the conextant sound drivers, and it was still popping. I downloaded LatencyMon and made sure that my system wasn't lagging. This laptop is brand new, and its very dissapointing to have a problem like this. Even after disabling the Nvidia graphics card, there is still some popping when playing a game (now on very low quality). I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on here!

I had the same problem but with my Y50 and the Realtek audio drivers. Might be of some use to you on how I fixed it: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Y50-audio-crackling-popping/m-p/2057814

Bumpty bump bump, same problem since laptop purchase and laptop is less than two months old. It's a problem that keeps reoccurring and only disappears when I recycle the computer. I am pretty sure this is a windows update that is causing the problem but which one out ofwhat seems like a hundred is a mystery.

I notice the problem kicks in when I have youtube open in the background and I'm working in the game engine Unity.

Bump.

This is occuring for me as well. When I switch the display adapter to the NVIDIA GeForce 840M I get constant cracks/pops while in game on Dark Age of Camelot and I always get it on YouTube videos.

I've downgraded, upgraded the drivers and done a full system recovery. Again this only happens when I want to use the 840M exclusively as the main display adapter.
