Re: Z500 Touch Hdd Replacement Guide with OKR 8.0 Functionality Revsion 2.1

I have a laptop Lenovo Z580 the following configuration:
intel core i5
1Tb
GeForce M640
6Gb ram
On instructions, downloaded disk image from Evozi and recorded on a flash drive.
In my BIOS there is no option disable "Secure Boot".
In the BIOS of my Z580 presented two tabs-
1. "Security", in which two points:
"Set Administrator Password" and
"Set A Hard Disk Password"
2. "Boot" system where you can choose
The UEFI Boot Enabled" or
The UEFI Boot Disabled".
Downloaded a laptop with a stick and did further instructions. All needed partitions were created, and the necessary files in the partitions are present. Then installed the Windows 8 in the volume "Windows8_OS". The system operates normally, but for some reason the drive "Lenovo" was not assigned a drive letter. Appointed manually through Disk Management. Button "Novo" does not work. When clicking on it and selecting "System recovery" occurs normal startup Windows. Can't work out what I'm doing wrong. If you can, please help.

Hello Alabama60

First of all I'd like to point the following facts by referring to the hardware maintenance manual of your unit:

1. Page 28 shows that the pre-installed OS is Windows 7

Z580 OS.JPG

2. Page 23 shows that you need One Key Recovery Disc Sets.

recovery disk.JPG

Based on the above it seems that the OKR version for your unit might be OKR 7.0 or lower. The procedure given in this post is for OKR 8.0 only.

Now refering to your unit's spec:

It seems that the UEFI version is an old one compared to what I have since there is no Secure boot. As to why the NOVO button does not work, I can only surmise that it is because you have to use OKR 7 and not OKR 8.

I bought a laptop without the pre-installed OS. And don't want to use Windows 7. I like Windows 8. But how to ensure that functioned One Key Rescue?

My suggestion to your problem is as follows:

1. Use win 7 and make OKR functional.

2. Use this link to upgrade to Win 8.

3. I also would like to request that you open a new thread for your problem since this thread is for the Z500 and OKR 8.

Note: I do want to help you but I don't have a unit like yours where I can use for testing. So I cannot assure that the above suggestion might work.

Hello LenBlazeR,
First thanks for your helpful OKR 8.0 guide
I tried to copy the data form the hidden partitons as you say
-open control panel

-select folder option

-click on view , mark on show hidden files, folders and drives, than apply and ok

When open D/lenovo/Onekey app/Onekey recovery/....
There is one file only with size 1KB (it's name is "Default.okd")
So there might be a problem for me ,as i can't found hidden partitions (20G partition and others).

Need your help
Thanks in advance

The procedure assumes that you have perform a first time use of your unit and had perform a OKR system backup to fill that folder with the said files. Remember when you first received your unit and turn it on? You are presented with the option to perform an OKR backup.

In your case it seems you have not perform the backup. Do them and you will see the files.

Hello LenBlazeR,
Sorry for annoy you
Unfortunately in my case
I resize my HDD first, then after few days i tried to use recovery for the first time !
my unit not backup never !!

When i use "EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.2", it show that there are 8g from 20g are used in 20g partition
also the other small hidden partitons.

So how can i perform an OKR backup !!
When press NOVO button it says
"The OKR application has been damaged"

I'm not sure about this. Try running the OKR program in Windows. See if you can perform the backup.
