Battery (99%, not charging)

2013-03-12, 14:46 PM

Hello!

I'm just wondering how would a 2 week old battery not charge. The battery level is stuck at 99% and it won't get fully charged. My laptop is brand new too. I have Lenovo Ideapad Z480.

Any solutions? Suggestions?

Thanks!

I had the same problem.

I bought a new Lenovo P400 touch last week.

It stuck at 99%, not charging.

Go to the battery icon on the lower right, next to the clock.  Click "More power options".  Go to the left and click "Choose what closing the lid does" and go to "When I close the lid" and "Plugged in" and choose "Do Nothing".  Close the lid.

It takes a while, maybe 1/2 an hour, but it will go from 99% to Fully Charged, 100%.  At least it did for me.

That's actually my current settings right now. But, I'll try closing the lid. I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Hmm, well for me it's not so much closing the lid, as much as when it went into sleep mode it wouldn't charge all the way.  It would say "plugged in" but "not charging".  I also have it set for "Put the computer to sleep" at "Never" when plugged in under "More power options".

Like what I said before, when you're at 99%, it takes a long time to get to 100%.  I would wait it out for about 1/2 an hour (that's how long it takes my battery to get from 99 to 100 percent) before determining it won't go to 100%.

If that doesn't work, maybe somebody else here can help you.

I believe it's meant for it to be charged between 80% and 99%, in order to keep the battery in good condition.

It often will not charge after 95% or so to keep the battery healthy. Because I frequently sleep mine as I move from room to room my battery is often at 97% not charging or 98% not charging. Once I actually use the battery for a while it will charge all the way up.

Nibs, thanks for that. So bloody simple but it worked.

My T420 started doing the "plugged in, not charging" today for the first time ever so I thought there must be something wrong. After wasting about an hour, I came across your comment and bingo.

Still can't believe Lenovo didn't suggest this (I've read about half a dozen of their forums with various exotic suggestions).
