Battery not charging Lenovo Y510P

2013-11-26, 12:37 PM

Good afternoon, maybe it was already posted but little had no results so i'm opening another message

Yesterday i told my battery power management to run a battery gauge reset test. But i think this damaged my battery.

My battery will not recharge in what settings i put it. In the energy management tool when the battery is in my laptop i see that it has a Good health but is only discharging. With the power adapter connected to it.

I have it put on maximum battery life.

Is there something i can do to try to see what my problems are.

I already measured my voltage and amps on the power adapter and that seems to work properly. Before i send it back for repairs i taught maybe somebody else has the same problem i have

Welcome to the forum !

As you sure the Battery Guage reset procedure completed its full cycle?  It sounds like your computer is still in its discharge phase.  The procedure for resetting the guage will take several hours to fully complete.  I did mine yesterday and it took almost 4 hours.  If nothing else, try re-running the gauge reset program and let it do its thing without interuption.  It may correct the problem on its own.

It's discharging but when i start it again or something like it. it tells me that i have to plug my AC power adapter. so i guess it went bad in a way. I'm going to let the battery die out and see what happends. It's charging a way again and i ran the battery gauge reset again. I hope nothing goes wrong

With the laptop unplugged from the AC adapter, remove the battery and then press the laptop's power button for 10 seconds.  Then re-install the battery, plug in the AC adapter and then power it on.  See if the gauge reset program now recognizes the charger as being connected.

Ok after 2 days of working with my laptop i've done the following:
Use it with no battery only the AC adapter.
Using it with the AC adapter and then sticking the battery in it's socket(this made it to start charging).
When that happened I ran the battery gauge reset, for 8 hours or more, and it stil did not finish.
This morning it's not charging again. So i'm asking myself whats up with it. what is defect on my machine.

Well, the next thing I would try is uninstalling and then reinstalling the Lenovo Energy/Power Management software/driver.  The problem maybe with the actual driver/software program itself.  Reinstalling may straighten out the problem.

With all the things you have tried thus far, sending it in for repair might be the best choice.

Hello.. I got my Lenovo Y510P SLI since 13 november 2013.. my problem is with battery.. when i see at the battery indicator, its say "14% available (plugged in,charging)".. but, after 2,3 hours, its still the same (not playing game).. when i try shutdown and turn ON again, percentage down to like 13%.. plug in and use for 2,3 hour again (and again, not playing game), the stat still same "13% availabe (plugged in, charging)".. please help me...

i think you have to send it for repairs, because that doesn't sound good at all. Or you can try removing the power management tool and installing it again. I would NOT suggest running the calibration tool within the power management tool. That really doesn't work and for some reason i still don't know why it takes forever and doesn't actually work
