Best Optimization for Nvidia GTM 555

2012-02-02, 8:11 AM

Yo guys the ideapads that contained nvidia 555 gtms were were a great deal for what we thought (or what I thought) was a pretty good graphics card.  But a lot of us knew that when we opened the boxes and took those what looked like the laptops from the gods, we installed a few games and our glees became frowns.  A lot of people have been expressing major dissatisfaction.

Of course we tried to make solutions.  A few such as tweaking the lenovo power management and unchecking a few boxes.  We also tweaked the advanced settings of the laptop's power management. (100% to 99%?  You know...)  We also suggested software-wise, like installing different drivers.  But I just hope that we can make a final or great optimization that we can be happy when we play these games.  Can anybody please give us some hint for a good optimization?

Yep, velenoso666 described a CLEAN-install technique for new drivers. The drivers, he said to be working, were 285.79 beta drivers. I've tried them and they did an amazing job for me. No more lagging or anything. Yesterday or perhaps 2 days ago, velenoso666 also said that the 285.62 whql nvidia drivers are also good for our lappies as they tend to take care of the stuttering problem. I can use smart disk saving and smart cpu saving and it doesn't stutter, my pc is on 100% processor power on high performance and it doesn't stutter anymore. I'm simply happy.

Where to install the 285.79 beta driver?
I went to the official nvidia site and the install said couldn't find compatible hardware.

Here are the 285.79 drivers I don't blame you for being pi$$ off and here's why, I've been using the 285.62 drivers for the last couple of days because they are suppose to be the right drivers and today my Y570 started playing up on me with that lag and freezing $hit. Where as I'd been using the 285.79 for some 4-5 weeks and they have never played up on me (Touch wood) What are we as consumers supposed to do if the recommended drivers don't work, I'm not a happy chappy either. I think I'll start looking into a replacement for the Y570 even though it's only some 6ish weeks old. I wasn't able to reinstall the 285.79 either but luckily I created a restore point before I tested the 285.62

Thanks velonoso, but for some reason, the 285.79 install from the official site doesn't seem to work for me.  I always get this "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."  Something's wrong here I dunno what mistake I'm making.

Personally I think if you keep on uninstalling the 285.62 and the 268,,,? (because these 286,,, are what the lenovo trys to load on it's own) it might eventually load the 285.79 from downloads own its own. I'm thinking this because yesterday while I was trying to load the 285.79, it loaded the 290... and they aren't the right drivers for the GT555M either, but who knows, it's a joke.

The 290 drivers just say that they are for gt555m aswell..but they simply don't work like 285.79. And again, the reason why you are getting the error message for 285.79 drivers is because the link posted was for desktop graphics..You have to search for mobile/verde drivers. So here's the correct link for 285.79 verde .

Well so far, Crysis 2 has made a way  better performance as well as a better performance in Skyrim.  However, Batman Arkham City is still having its jitters.  Thanks for the link guys.  But could anyone refer me to the previous suggestion somebody suggested about tweaking the power options (something about making 100% to 99%)?
