Can the 24GB SSD on the Y510P 59370001 be replaced with another?

2014-03-07, 8:49 AM

Hey.

I am getting a Y510P 59370001 and it comes with a 1TB 5400RPM HDD and a 24GB SSD for cache. Can I disable the Rapid Storage and replace the SSD with one of a larger size? From what I can tell, they are meant to be M2 NGFF SSDs. If thats correct, can I simply get another M2 NGFF SDD and replace the default one?

Also, can the 8GB-DDR3L 204-Pin sticks also be swapped out for more or is 8GB and DDR3-1600 the max speed supported?

Thanks a lot.

Abz.

The 24 GB SSD can be replaced with any other 42mm M.2. SSD. They are very rare right now but on Amazon there is a retailer called MyDigitalSSD that sells them. They are the only guys in town with retail product right now. I have the 128GB one and it works great:

I currently have 2 x 8 GB DDRIII 1866 in my system and it works fine.
