"So what's the fix then? So far i've seen -

- Making a hole in the laptop -> could be a fix, but you need to be a good handyman to not ruin your laptop and keep it aesthetically acceptable

- Modding the Fan settings to spin faster -> this would work, but EC control is locked in the system BIOS which is only accessable by Lenovo and they seem to not give a damm. Funny thing is, there IS a Bios update for the y510p, but Lenovo does not make it public for download. Newest BIOS is 3.XX, however if someone orders from an older batch, he/she might get a laptop with BIOS version 1.XX or 2.XX.

- Less voltage to GPU -> this could work, I tried to lower voltage but failed, even tho I changed values in hex editor, the voltage stayed 1.1180 V. Lenovo seems to as usual, not give a damm, so anyone up for the challenge ?

- Turning off Turbo in the i7 processor -> this is not related to the ultrabay vga overheat, if someone has an overheating CPU than he/she either needs to repaste or send back for repaste

- Repasting the GPU" -> will not help, only prolongs the problem

Just a quick bump, as I am amazed this hasn't revicieved more attentionen. I have exactly the same problems. Ultrabay GPU is a con, as it doesn't work pratically - it overheats exremely easily, and I regret buying the y510p for this reason.

I ordered my Y510P sli 755m on January 27. Said it would ship within 7-9 days. Then shipping was changed to February 19. Then shipping was changed to March 7.

I called Lenovo, emailed, and text chatted with them to inquire regarding my order and when it would ship. i was to receive a reply within 48 hours. Guess what. I haven't heard anything at all and it's been much greater than 48 hours.

I'll be cancelling my order next week. I have purchased an MSI GS70 2OD-001US which has a 765m and 17.3" screen. It's the thinest 17" laptop on the market and it's very nice with brushed aluminum chassis, steelseries glowing keyboard etc. The 765m won't be as fast as 755m SLI so I'm reading more on what other SLI units are available on the market. I have 7 days to return my MSI if I so desire, no questions asked.

I bought a cooler master U3 cooling pad and placed two of the moveable fans in the air take of the cpu and gpu1 and the other fan in the ultrabay, i played crysis 3 on high and it was at 78 celsius degress, it used to be at 96. Pretty much solved my problem, the 755m SLI REALLY works, I max out 80% of the games even with i7 turbo disabled... I think you wil regret choosing MSI because the gtx 765m is like 30% slower.
