Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Despite the warning re OneKey, I'm afraid that I need to expand my C partition on IdeaPad Y510 in order to install Windows 7.  Moving files from C to D just won't free up enought space (16GB required per Windows 7 instructions), and the option of installing Windows 7 on D then transferring files and reinstalling programs (those for which I have a CD) from C plus keeping an unneeded Vista on C just doesn't appeal to me.

So, could you please direct me on how to expand my C partition into the D free space.  [The Disk Management utility allows me to shrink a partition but not extend it.]

I want to ask about my Y450.

Currently i use it for recording. I tried using camtasia studio. But it can't record sound directly. There are options that i want to use "speaker audio (what you hear)". I can't use that options. Why ?? But I can use that with my other notebook.

Can anyone explained how to solve my problem.

(Y450, Win 7)

@ crowding

you can use "partition magic" but after that if anything bad happens to your system partition, one key recover won't fix the issue.

got windows 7 dvd? if you don't use vista, make a clean install for windows 7 with formatting hard disk.

the article you may need is here :

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

I have installed windows 7 by upgrading from vista, I ordered from lenovo and got 2 disc, one is windows 7 instalation disc and the other is driver for my ideapad u350.

There are questions I would like to ask.

  1. in the driver disc there is a driver for broadband modem, I installed it but cannot see the application in the program menu, I know that there is a slot for me to insert the sim card behind the battery. does anyone know how to use internal broadband modem?
  2. After I installed W7 does OKR is still working?my previous os was vista (preinstalled). if it can't, does anyone know how to activate OKR in W7? so when I have trouble with my laptop, I can use OKR and restore the system to previous last working W7. Thx...and please help me

Sorry for my bad english :smileytongue:

@ page404

update okr for windows 7.

windows 7 32 bit : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_1778.html

windows 7 64 bit : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_1780.html

don't forget to check okr works after updating software.

try to insert sim card into the slot :) and check for driver cd for any application for it.

Re: Disk Portioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

2010-01-11, 22:05 PM

Hi Mark, I continue to get warnings that disk space is too low in C drive.

I have defragmented C drive & also attempted to move programs to the D drive & or delete them w/ little improvement.

Many programs seem require C drive.

This partition has caused me much heartache & headache. This is much more than I bargained for.

How do I know what can be deleted from C drive?

My Docs is on D drive along w/ all my data. Outlook only installs on C drive.

What is the best thing for me to do?

Thanks so much!

Hi Loggerhead, I had the same problem with the Y510 but solved it thanks to help on this forum.  I bought the Paragon Partition Manager software, and then used it to add space to the C drive making it around 15 gb in size. Now I operate the computer without any problem. Search through the posts on this thread and you wil find the instructions from user janicej and you should be able to solve your problem.  You will not lose any data in this process, though the one key recovery system will not work any longer (but I have been using this computer for two years and have not had to use the recovery system, and  hope to go on another year when I will probably buy a new computer in any case).
