Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

2011-01-11, 21:10 PM

I have a Y430 with a 250gb hard disk (my system came with a 5400rpm WD) , and want to upgrade it to a 500gb hard disk (purchased a 7200rpm WD) with a factory image. I have search and attempted to follow the instructions for creating the factory recovery media but I don't have the options when I press the okr to create factory media. I would like to do this if possible without ordering media. Can anyone provide me some assistance or point me to a posting that I missed?

Thanks in advance!

i have V560 and i reparted my whole hdd. Now i see that i cant use OKR and this is sad. why there is no a small software to re-operate this OKR button. And why i have to use my notebook with pre-installed partitions. This is really not fair.

now i need to be sure. can i still use Lenovo backup with recovery CD?

gvdprasad,

The OneKey recovery button will turn on the PC, but after the BIOS, will boot to a special partition (code 0x12 I believe) to start the recovery.

Can I rebuild Lenovo OneKey partition?

2011-01-27, 1:44 AM

I had deleted the reserved partition and the application (OneKey Recovery), can I rebuild the reserved partition?

One more question, can I just build a bootable CD for OneKey Recovery without burn the backup data? I prefer recovery from HDD than a DVD. Can I?

my favorite backup software Macrium Reflect Free and EASEUS ToDo Backup does better...

Thanks by the way...

you need to ship your laptop back to lenovo to reset your harddisc to default.

so,i don't think it'd be possible to recovery hidden partition.

( it's possible but you may need enough knowladge and system files for that )

and it's possible to use your own harddisk for recovery.still, just in case, i suggest you to burn the dvds.

Re: Can I rebuild Lenovo OneKey partition?

Hello all

I just purchased a Lenovo Y560p with 500GB hdd and it has a 420GB C drive and 30GB D drive. I am new to Lenovo notebook & have a few questions:

a) is the OKR function lost if I re-partition the size of C & D drive?

b) if I buy a new 750GB hdd, can I clone the existing 500GB drive to the new drive, while expanding the D drive and keeping the OKR function?

I am a little bit worried if the existing 500GB hdd fails to work one day after warranty and then I have no way to have the OKR function back. What should I do right now to make a back up?

- one key recover will stop working if you resize volumes.

- you can burn recovery dvds to restore your system. if you clone your hard disk to 500 gb new one, okr will work but i'm not sure if you clone it bigger hard disc ( should work, not sure )
