Did you make a Factory Restore Disc set before wiping your drive if not your kind of nacked as once the partitions are gone they are gone.

PM me if you need a Set thats of Course if you Laptop is same spec as mine.

Are you sure it was just formatting? Because formatting C or D should not make the OnKeyRecovery button disfunctional (I know because I did this). Re-partitioning can, however, if you delete (or maybe even if you move?) the 3rd (hidden) partition.

There is no download for the Hidden partition once its gone its gone. How ever i do have a Recovery DVD set to which will restore the hidden partition. How ever i don't know the specs of your PC to know if it will fully work or if drivers will still need a download. Its a Windows 7 Home Premium Disc Set. PM me with you specs and i'll try and help you to the best i can.

Re: OneKey Recovery Feature and warranty

2010-05-18, 22:40 PM

ddekany,

You can re-partition, and reload the system as you wish without voiding your hardware warranty, but doing so can put us into a mutually difficult situation...

For both Think and Idea systems, there is a hidden partition that can be used to recover / restore to factory state as you know.   The recovery software also has the ability to create a set of recovery DVDs and we encourage all users to do this as pretty much a first course of action.   Many however, unfortunately do not.

Instead, they blow everything away and then run into trouble and call support where they learn that while recovery DVDs are available for Think products they are available for a fee unless the HDD catastrophically failed, in which case we would provide them along with a replacement drive.   On Idea, recovery DVDs are not necessarily available for all models which means a trip to the depot to be re-imaged, and this may not necessarily be a warranty repair for free.     The system warranty is not void, but it might be a billable repair to re-image it.

The other caveat is if a customer wipes the image and recovery partition and did not make backups first - say to load Linux, and then runs into a problem that could be drivers or could be hardware (say the touchpad isn't working), the support will want to return to supported config (the preload) to exclude software as a cause before we start replacing hardware.

I hope that helps to clear up the confusion around this issue.

Best regards,

Mark
