ELAN driver disabled touchpad and created blue screen stop code

When update happened earlier this year, the touchpad stopped functioning.  We used an external mouse until 4.26.18.  After calling Lenovo support and downloading the driver listed above, the system created a stop code blue screen that seemed to occur in a repeated loop.  While on call with support, was told that choosing shut down when initial screen came up should fix the stop code.  Also was told that the driver was correct and therefore the touchpad was faulty just after warranty expired and I would have to go to BestBuy in order to get it fixed.  I finished the call and realized the stop code occurred whenever I touched the touch pad.  I went online to the microsoft support because it was a system problem and determined the driver being uninstalled might help.  Low and behold, after uninstalling the driver and restarting the lenovo not only did the stop code stop occuring, the touchpad now works just fine.  This is a bad driver and needs to be fixed.
