First for your info i have pictures with the laptop and his condition.

Second, is not the first time i am buying from Lenovo Outlet i bought several refurbished laptops before

Third "factory refurbished" means it looks like a new one outside, otherwise is called "Scratch and Dent"

Finally, go ahead and buy the Y450 and pray that you will not need their customer service

Regards

I'm not surprised by this at all. When I received my refurbished y450 the speakers did not emit sound. I was sent a Gateway branded charger, which ended up starting on fire, my battery was almost completely dead (now it is completely dead and only runs on AC), and my wireless card died three months after I received it (I had another laying around). Mine was not dented or scratched but it seems like Lenovo didn't even bother to check to see if all the components were working before they shipped it out. I don't quite understand their thinking whatsoever. If you're thinking of buying a refurb, don't do it. It's not worth the hassle and Lenovo will not do anything to help you.

IdeaPad Support Experience with Lenovo

2010-03-08, 5:03 AM

I have a Thinkpad T60P, a Thinkpad W500 and an Ideapad U150. I obviously like Lenovo products!

But, my "Lenovo" experience with the U150 has been quite different than that with the 2 Thinkpad laptops. Thinkpad support out of Atlanta is incredibly good, but the support for the Ideapad comes out of the Philipines and has been completely useless.

Even the Lenovo web site is useless when it comes to the U150. I've been trying to buy an AC power supply for the U150, but there is NONE listed for the U150 - as a matter of fact, other than a backback and a few other unimportant accessories, there are NO accessories listed for this computer.

I'm real sorry I didn't get the Thinkpad X100e instead!

Bert,

Let me see what I can find out... sometimes we are a bit delayed getting options up on the site for sale for the IdeaPad products.   The X100e is pretty nice - gotta love the trackpoint, but I think the U series IdeaPads have their own apeal as well.

Thanks for letting us know!

Best regards,

Mark

+1, or maybe -1,

I hate to just hang a negative post here, but my experience with ThinkPad support has been excellent but IdeaPad support has been ghastly.

My last go-around (4 or 5 calls, no calls back) with the nice folks in the Philipines ended with something like "our supervisor is new and doesn't have the password to the server, so we won't be able to take care of that for you".

It was a warranty purchase and registration issue finally resolved by a sales person in Canada.

Hi Mark,

For what it's worth, hours after placing the order for the U150, I called back and changed it to the X100 - and was told the order would be changed. Two days later I get an email indicating the U150 had shipped. I wasn't any too pleased with the Sales people either. I deceided to keep the U150, rather than go thru the issues I felt destined to experience with the less-than-competant sales people. At the time it didn't seem like a bad decision to keep the U150 - but in retrospect, given the horrible support on both the web site and by the support people in the Philipines, it WAS a bad decision!

bertsirkin,

I've looked through our site, and am rather perplexed that we appear to only be offering the 19V adapters for the S-series systems.    The adapter for your system has a small diameter 20V input, which is physically incompatible with the larger 20V connector on ThinkPad.

I'll raise this issue with our web options team and see what can be done.   If this is urgent, you might call support again and ask if you ordered an AC adapter as a service part, and didn't return the "old" part, how much you would be charged.   If the charge is in line with the rest of the AC adapter options on the web, that might be a short term work around for you.
