Harddisk failure and warranty repair

2010-06-03, 18:49 PM

I'm the owner of a Y460.

Previously, windows started to give me warning messages about an impending harddisk failure. Running seagate's DOS seatools, tells me that the SMART has tripped, and the warranty validation code is 69A79E6A. Did a long test, which identified numerous sectors which failed, which seatools could not repair. After a few days, I started to get windows blue screens as well, due to failure to access kernal, as well as the harddisk

Sent it in for warranty repair at their depot, and got it back with the following comments.

"Replicated Customer issue -(Badd HDD/Blue Screen)

Re-image Hard Drive.

Pass Video Stress Test

Performed PC Doctor Test

No parts was listed under Parts used in replaced

The harddisk was not pysically replaced

When I first booted up my computer, windows displays the same harddisk error message to me. Running the seatools again identifies that SMART is still tripped.

Did Lenovo repair the harddisk, and the error message is just something that does not go away? Or should I send it in for repair again?
