How to get rid of Dolby

2017-12-22, 11:20 AM

Is there a way to completely remove Dobly and Dolby digital theater from my system. I really don't like Dolby and I dont see why I have to be forced to use it. Every time I try to uninstall the realtek driver it just installes again with Dolby. Dolby doesn't show anywhere in the "Uninstall apps and features" and it has no folder for it.

Am I just stuck with Dolby forever?

Thanks in advance.

You might try changing the driver from RealTek to the built in High Definition Audio Device driver that comes with Windows.    It may lack some features, but it will play sounds just fine.

  • Right-click on Start
  • Select "Device Manager"
  • Locate "Sound, video and Game Controllers", and then left click to expand that section
  • Right-click on your Realtek device and select "Update Driver"
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
  • Select "High Definition Audio Device" and then click Next

Good luck,

Re: How to get rid of Dolby

i just remembered something related to Dolby. Dobly works completely fine most of the time, however, while I am playing games such as PUBG and LoL. Sometimes Dolbys inbuild loudness equilization just disapears and that increases to volume of Discord or Youtube if I have it running. Why does it do that? The games sounds just gets lowered to the ground but the other sounds from Discord and Youtube get increased?

This sometimes fixes by going to the speakers and turning Dolby off and on again but that rarely works. How do I fix this?
