IdeaPad Y460 broken bezel connector

2014-03-19, 1:43 AM

Hi, I took apart my laptop. As I was removing the keyboard bezel, I sectionned the wires on the connector circled in red in the attached image. This image was taken from p. 58 of the IdeaPad Y460 Hardware Maintenance Manual

What is the function of this connector? Is it critical to the operation of the laptop? If so, how could I fix it?

Thanks,

Stephane

Hi
Welcom to the forum!!!
If i have identified correctly, you mean the step 10 ?
One of them is of the speaker for sure. The other one may also be for a speaker though i would have to check once.
I'll report as soon as i confirm it.

And btw, is there a problem with the connectors ?

Thank you for your rapid response.

Yes, it is the connector closest to the bottom of the page in step 10. Sorry, I forgot to attach the image.

I detached the wires from the male connector by pulling on them too hard. I tried to solder them back in but I did it wrong, and now I cannot plug the male connector back into the female one.

If it's only for the speaker, I will probably leave it as it is and continue using the laptop without the speaker.
