Ideapad Y400 frame rate drastically different when plugged in

2013-05-10, 11:09 AM

So were I am coming from is that I got the y400 as opposed to a desktop so that I could play games while I was away from the house.

The situation is that when I have the power cord connected whether I am connected via wifi or ethernet I am getting around 60-70+ frames per second, but when I unplug the power cord the highest frame rate I have seen so far has been 14 frames per seccond with the ethernet with it being as low as 2 frames per second.

From my reading a few people have said that they had like situations and it was resolved by deleting the lenovo power management software, in which I saw no change when attempting that.

is this normal? and if so is there a way to change it? I cant choose mobility over performance when it is this drastic and may need to go another route in computing.

thank you for your time,

Jay

You are trying to game when unplugged? Or just videos on the internet? Laptops are ment to be plugged in when gaming, as the battery cannot support the high power requirement of the GPU.

You cannot expect any better from any laptop when it comes to gaming. All laptops gaming or not will need to be plugged in to get better performance while gaming. Batteries currently just aren't good enough to run these powerful GPUs at full throttle, just the way it is.

I do not know what has motivated you two to post, but your answers are not acceptable and from a helping standpoint I am no better now then I was before you both posted. So I am sorry to have took some of your time that could of been spent better off somewere else that someone could praise you for your lackluster responses.

Sorry you are so butthurt about your purchase but these are honest answers. There is no magical fix to make your laptop run games good while on battery, end of story. Go watch "This is Water" on YouTube, the world doesn't revolve around you buddy.
