That's like my problem too. My BIOS is the updated, my OS is also Windows 10 updated. After installing rainmater for my desktop, this problem arose. My laptop always presses the 0 key without stopping ... is there a solution to this problem? My laptop is Lenovo Ideapad Y700

Have you found any solutions?

I have had the same problem for the past month. The only thing I could do is a workaround to stop this button from being typed. Assuming this has to do with the same button "\", I edited the registry (in Windows*) and assigned this scancode to a "do nothing" operation. There are many articles on how to remap scancodes (a concise one can be found here: https://learnitstepbystep.blogspot.com/2019/11/windows-registry-keyboard-scancode-map.html), but most of them switch Caps Lock with Ctrl. In our case, the button in question is "\". This is fairly simple, so I will be posting the process here:

  1. Open the registry (Windows Button + R , then type regedit)
  2. At the side panel, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Controls > Keyboard Layout.
  3. Right-click and select New > Binary Value, which you should name Scancode Map
  4. Double-click your newly created value and in the text area type this value**: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 56 00 00 00 00 00
  5. Press OK and restart your laptop or Sign-out/Sign-in to make the changes take effect.

If you want to revert those changes, delete this value from the registry and restart your laptop.

This should make the button have no output but there are many other issues that need to be resolved:

  • There is a persisting problem (in Windows), where the touchpad does not track movements when a button is pressed. I've heard that this is a feature(?) that can be disabled by the synaptics driver's options. I have not tested it though.
  • Another problem is the keyboard's ghosting issue. I don't know if this happens to every keyboard with this problem, but mine, when typing fast, either: a) does not register some of the keys pressed (any OS) or b) lags but eventually types whichever key is pressed.

* Footnote 1: In Linux I applied the same logic, using xmodmap.

** Footnote 2: I found this site that explains all different scancodes: https://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/kbd/scancodes-1.html. The scancode we want is not the regular button that is above or next to Enter and corresponds to "\" or "|", but a button that, when present, it is usually next to Shift. As a result, it has a different scancode (56 in hex), and disabling it allows us to still use the key "\" near Enter

Your solution still doesn't work.

I have even opened the key and cleaned and found nothing suspicious.

Please help me coz this is very annoying.

I have searched all over the net and watched youtube videos but none worked out.
