Keyboard waking Y400

2015-01-05, 1:09 AM

My laptop, a Lenovo Y400 running Windows 8.1, likes to wake up in my backpack when things nudge the keyboard. This is really inconvenient because it drains the battery for when I need it.

My Device Manager lists two keyboards, "HID Keyboard Device" and "Standard PS/2 Keyboard." I tried disallowing the HID keyboard from waking the computer by selecting it in Device Manager and deselecting the option under Power Management. This worked, but there is no option for the PS/2 keyboard.

Next I tried using elevated command prompt, but

    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

Meaning there are supposedly no devices with the ability to wake my computer. However, when I put it to sleep and tap on the keyboard it still wakes up.

I did some cursory fiddling with the BIOS but couldn't find any related settings.

1) What's up with the PS/2 keyboard?

2) How can I fix the wake-up problem?

Thank you!
