Lenovo BROKE MY LAPTOP doing a minor repair, 5 weeks later no remedy

2011-03-31, 4:48 AM

I had to send in my y560 for a keyboard issue.

They replaced the keyboard promptly but the unit upon being returned wouldn't take charge from AC adaptor.

I send it back the second time, and they tell me that the motherboard is broken. ?!?!??!  How do you break a mobo whilst doing a regular keyboard swap?

Anyhow then 3 weeks later, the repair centre STILL do not have the motherboard in stock. They do however give me a committment date.

The date comes and goes, still the repair centre hasn't got the part, and has no idea.

I call the complaints department (1800 655 627 in australia), who says pretty words but won't help me aside from 'getting an update from the repair centre'. They even put me on hold infinitely just to give me the flick. They promise to call me back, but they don't, I call back, and its always the same story - 'XYZ is handling your case but shes not here right now, we'll get an update for you and call back', never call back.  Its now >5 weeks

Is there somewhere else I can go to get this resolved? I am so bummed out now all I want is a refund or replacement.

I have all the case numbers here: repair case AN319561 claim case 21730.

Update

They finally agreed to send me a replacement. 5 weeks and counting....

However to add insult to injury, the process I must follow is to get the service centre to send back my unrepaired laptop, then I sent it back to lenovo as a final stage.

Why they can't just arrange this interally is beyond me.

Suffice to say this experience has turned me off the lenovo brand permanently.
