Ok guys,

fairy tail is over. I dont know why did i at all consider that soft update can solve this thing that easily. I was the one who put live linux with plain generic driver and still had issues. So, this c*ap is not working. I dont want to give advices to others, but i surelly know what i'm gonna do tomorrow morning.

Talked to Elan, they say it's Lenovo, lenovo blaming it on vendor, blah blah...The corporate run around. This is getting tierdsome, I may start a petition for those who are affected by this problem to sign. Lenovo, this is very terrible support. I am really surprised by the lack of concern from lenovo. Will begin a new thread for the petition to fix this solution.

Y500 Touchpad Petition

2012-12-29, 23:45 PM

Petition for the Y500 touchpad problem.

The Lenovo Y500 touchpad as most know, is suffering some sort of technical or software issue. Some of the Y500 customers have sent their laptops back in and recieved a new one with the same problem.

Lenovo has said little about this problem and should at the very least inform the community that they are trying to solve the problem.

1.) Fix the problem.

2.) Offer a concession for those who bought the Y500 due to the terrible support.

3.) Make contact with the community and don't send your "staff" to give generic help that will not help.

-William

I really do like this laptop, they wanted me to send it back, but not going to do it after I heard the ship out with the same problem. Can't be without a laptop...Just please fix the issue to make it more usable without using a seperate mouse.

Well just got off of the phone with Lenovo Tech Support for the 3rd time, not entirely sure she understood that there were numerous people on the forum with the same problem but I'm sending it into the "depot" to be fixed. I figured for the $1000 I spent for it i'll send it in 1000 times minimum untill this issue is resolved or they give me a refund because I'm using too much of their shipping money...muhahaha.

Will be posting back after I send it in to hopefully to brag about how good my new touchpad is!

Re: Y500 Touchpad Petition

Spot on William. I ordered mine on Dec 6. Received Dec 11. It started acting up about 4 days after I got it, while I was online downloading a program. I don't have a virus. I had our IT guy check it out for that. Soooo, it's still doing things on it's own.. I even went so far to VIDEO it tonite after I started it up, the cursor went all over, opening up 3 programs, then it weirdly opened up Picasa and started sorting thru and viewing my pictures. Funny to watch in a way, considering I was videotaping it. My daughter said it seemed like it was possessed. Called tech guy, who was NOT in the U.S., a guy named Carlo Jason Tala, who remoted in to troubleshoot. Before even doing that, he said I had a 21 day window to do a return, with return and replacement as an option. He mentioned that they might offer me a refurbished one? aughhhhh. I said but then that leaves me without a laptop, waiting on a replacement. He said I could always send it back in for them to fix. NOT going to happen. I would probablly get it back and, after reading other posts, it would still have the same problem because they are NOT addressing the problem which I believe is HARDWARE. I read one post where someone got onsite repair, a replacement touchpad, and hasn't had problems since then. Fine, do an oniste replacement ...their expense. It's either that or I return it hook, line and sinker and go over and buy a Macbook or something from Asus at Best Buy. I can't be without a laptop and told the guy that tonite. So my 21 day window is running out, which means I have to call Sales on Monday and hope that they haven't taken off for the Holiday. If they want me to take a NEW replacement, I say they can ship me that, then I see if it's working right, then I ship this one back to them. They need to onsite repair it. I need a laptop to remote for work in late Jan. This has really put me in a bind. I don't like having to use the external mouse all the time and wondering if my touchpad is going to act all screwy and go bananas, doing who knows what to programs or in the middle of something. I spoke with a guy at Best Buy today and he said it absolutely shouldn't be doing that. Their floor models go through all kinds of abuse and most, if any, ever have touchpad issues.
