Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y500 Touchpad Not Working

So even with the external mouse, I still can notice the problem in the internal touchpad??

Like the "mouse point' in the display moving around even though I try to control it with my external mouse?

i had to disable my touchpad and can only use an external mouse for now. having the touchpad enabled even for one day causes too many problems. couldn't take a chance on it going out of control when i was working on something important.

DISCOVERY!!

I was at staples today and checked out all of their Lenovo laptops, upon doing so I imediately noticed one thing. No matter how expensive or how cheap the model was EVERY single Lenovo laptop there had exactly the same multi-touch synaptics trackpad the very same this laptop ~can~ come with.

Why the heck did they choose a different manufacturer/supplier for just this model?

Obviously it was a bad choice lol, also I was not the most pleased with how the track pad(s) feel even though it was made by synaptics.

P.S HP is the worst, dumbest cooling/construction/hardware on the market.

I called for replacement order 2 weeks ago, but have not heard anything back yet, post sales have been telling me they will call me back by next week or next day even by end of today, still... no one call me back...feel like they just want to get rid of me, I'm so frustrated and helpless!

I have heard the problem might be the ELan driver.

Finally I decided to download Synaptic Driver to replace Elan driver from http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

So far so good, I will do more test for couple days and let you know!

Why don't you try it if you have the same problem as me.

I try that before but the touchpad become very unstable from starting up. (I use the latest driver from Lenovo site)

It also makes no difference what kind of OS you use.

Different flavors of Linux have also the same touchpad issue.

This is absolutely a hardware/design problem and you can not fix it by force the Synaptics driver for Elantech touchpad.

What version of Synaptic drivers do you use for your Elantech touchpad by the way?

You have to hold on and not wait for a return call. Call again today. The person who worked on setting up my return was very nice and understanding. The computer is nonfunctional with this touchpad problem. I couldn't use it at all.
