darrren12000,

I was trying to piece together how long it took for you to get your refund.  It looked like you returned it around January 6, and received the refund Jan 28.  Is that about right?  20+ days?

I didn't bother calling for a refund/RMA since I really dont have time to sit on hold all day -- rather I did the whole thing over email which actually went really smooth.  (Other than the broken english in the email responses).  Now just waiting for the transaction to clear.

It took nearly 2 wks for the credit to appear. I called my credit card company and told them I was waiting for a huge credit, and I asked them for a 2-week extension. They gave it to me.

I also just got off the phone with post-sales....Wow.  They are unable to resolve anything without referring to an other group.  "3-5 business days" I sent my Y500 back in to the repair depot on the 6th.  They still have it!  They can send a replacement, but it takes 3 business days to process and "3 to 5" to hear from anyone after that.  That isn't even the time until it's sent out, just processing!  I may still have to wait longer for the Y500 replacement to be actually sent.  My repaired Y500 (ha, ha) will must likely get to me first.  I bought the Y500, GN36 and 170watt power adapter on the 30th of Dec.  I had it for 2 days in all this time.  Would have been a nice laptop if it had worked.  Was this a bait and switch?  Deep discounts on a defective machine just to move them.  There still moving them, right?

It did not take 20 plus days. About 2 weeks.

I just got my laptop on Monday. Right out of the box (which was already opened when it came to me, the seal stickers were ripped) and the laptop had smudges on it. Someone had handled it before me! The touchpad is 100% useless, it won't work at all it just has a seizure all over the screen. I have to turn it off and use a USB mouse.

I really like this laptop, I hope I can get a updated replacement, it is unacceptable that this even passed QC.

Maybe you got one that someone returned.

Anyone know how soon Lenovo refunds credit cards after they recieve the laptop? It's been almost a week since they have received it and I still haven't been refunded. My credit card payment is due in a few days and I'm hoping they refund it before the due date.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y500 Touchpad Not Working

Hi Everyone,

I bought the Lenovo Y500 one week ago and i had exactly the same problem of the mouse touchpad so i returned the laptop and changed for another also new one , expecting than the problem was only in a particular item but unfortunately also in the new laptop same day the problem was still there, mouse getting crazy, not responding etc...

I bought it at BCC in Nederlands, I spoke with Lenovo support by phone and the guy of Lenovo had no idea of this problem .. like if it was the first time he hears this problem even i mentioned that in Lenovo forum was formally his company anouncing the problem but he had no idea...

so he gave me a boucher for sending the laptop back to them for repairing in 10 working max days , my laptop is suposed to be fixed.... i hope they will really do! ;

Medion is the company in Nederland who is supose to repair this problem, they sent me an email of receiving my laptop.

Well this is how i contribute to this forum, the problem is also in MAYBE all Lenovos all over the world (mine was suposed to arrived just week ago to the store... )

If you are thinking in buying Lenovo y500 in Holland dont do it, seems the problem is everywhere....

Greetings to all

Update (I'm still waiting):

I called support again on Sunday for any updates. I was on hold for the rep to get the tech support to give them any clue what was going on with the computer. They claimed that they *just* received the touchpad for the repair and it would take less than a week for repair (so I would expect an update online this week).

I called again today and got a completely different answer. They told me that the touchpad parts are arriving on the 5th of February! Which is it? I keep getting told it will get repaired then get pushed off another week.

I hope it just turns around soon as I'm at three weeks very soon and was told initially it would take less than two (at most).

as you guys are probably aware- received it the 14th, sent for repair on the 17th- they started work on the 23rd- now been on hold for service for 8 days- very frustrating.

I was hoping they could just take it as is for a return and get my money back but nope

If you buy a y500 and it is twitchy and still within your 21 days return it!! DO NOT repair it!!

That will take too long and be a waste of your time for something that probably not even be properly fixed.

So much for having a nice new computer for my new semester at school!  So much for lenovo's reputation for quality.

They are not even considering extra warrantee or any lenovo perks/ benefits for the huge inconveniences, and knowingly shipping out defective products after Nov.28th.

I repsect Mark for what he has to put up with from us, but I don't think he realizes just how frustrating and problamatic this is for all of us; and the lack of support from lenovo does not help.  The constant mixed messges and empty words are angering and no way to run a business.  Admit the problem, issue the recall, offer compesation etc for those affected.

haha just imagine if they spent all this time moderating as they do working on fixing their products... they actually would have happy customers!
