Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y500 Touchpad Not Working

2013-02-12, 0:00 AM

Hi Everyone here an update of my Y500,

I sent to Lenovo which uses MEDION as a repair company , MEDION sent me an email that they received my laptop the 30 of January and until now i have no news of my laptop...

I called 2 times and they say is still in repair...

if they have other laptops in stock why dont they just send me another one my laptop was sent after hours of use....

so dissapointing all the brand and service that Lenovo offers in Nederlands.....

I hope lenovo do something to make up to clients who trusted their brand

Greetings

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y500 Touchpad Not Working

Mark by your logic- 1 tech should be able to repair 25 machines a week (assuming they work 7.5hrs a day and each repair takes 2 hours- one to remove and one to replace)  I highly doubt the repair center is a 1 man operation for all of the lenovos in the US.  So if you have 100 technicians you should be able to churn out 2500 repaired y500s a week.  I realize it takes quite awhile for parts to arrive at times, however, this does not adequately explain the prolonged delays some customers are experiencing.

I too have been faced with the upsell by tech support guys offering extended warrantee and have restrained myself from telling the guy to *bleep* off.

My wait has not been as bad as others but this is still very shameful and lenovo is doing way more harm than good to itself over this issue.  There has not even been a single mention of any givebacks for inconveniences of over a month in many cases of your 'valued' customers.  Companies with staying power have a severly loyal customer base.

Based on your latest information, we should expect our machines back by the end of this week.  I would expect lenovo who now finally has the parts to fast track these repairs that have been waiting for well over a month.

As each day goes by, and each mixed and misinformed message that spews from lenovo makes it more evident to all of us that the company clearly does not care about its customers, and is only looking to make massive amounts of cash off of cheaply made, low quality products.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad Y500 Touchpad Not Working

Just checking in 10 days post op on my fully functioning y580. Great computer. Working touchpad, and let's knock on wood that there are no major issues. I really love being fully mobile. I sent my y500 back about a week after my surgery  and still within the 30 days of the shipping label issue date. I do NOT miss that touchpad. One thing I really like about  the y580 is the edging used around the touchpad. On the y500 I was always afraid of was dirt and other things getting under the edges. I have a Synaptics touchpad on the y580 and as I've noted before, it's like glass. Very nice. For those wondering if the y580 is a viable replacement for the ailing y500 and touchpad problems, I say go for it. I haven't been disappointed yet. Also working WiDi and some other nice touches. Just be prepared to wait a bit for it. mine took about 2 weeks to arrive. If the y580 is an example of how good a Lenovo product can be, then I'm very impressed.

I got a call from Lenovo this afternoon apologizing for the long wait. I wonder if it was because I posted on the forums? At least they seem to care. I hope they make it worth it for me to have waited this long if they want to keep me as a customer.

Same problem with impossible to type drifting cursor on my new IdeaPad N585 - and I find there's no local service center - downloaded the newest driver, and it's worse than before - only solution right now is to disable the device and use a wireless mouse, but I don't want to just live with a defective product - need a solution before the warranty runs out!

Wow that's amazing! A call that's unheard of! They have my number and email. They ask me to verify it every time i call in. Which must be a dozen times. Never heard from them once.

If it comes with Synaptics, then no problemo, altough there are people who has problems with the keyboard too. I wanna guess it has been fixed.

There are other options of course, but we cannot comment on it if ots from another brand. People has been buying the Y580 instead (from Lenovo too).
