Been keeping an eye on this deal here, but hesitant to commit with the touchpad issues lingering.

Could someone please comment on whether they have been fixed?

Jack416,

There are a few reviews around now and you can find them by googling.  If this is a desktop replacement then great machine for the money.  Not good battery life.  If you have to deal with Lenovo Support......very fustrating! I had my Y500 for 2 days before my touchpad went mad and haven't seen it since (6th of Jan.)  If you have issues exchange it..DO NOT SEND IT IN FOR REPAIR!

I bought the laptop on the 30th of December and received it on the 4th of January. I sent it in the 11th after figuring out that I definitely had a trackpad issue.

I've had a horrible time with the repair depot (I'm filing a complaint with BBB). I haven't been able to get any details on the status of the repair other than that they have started repairing it. I've been promised multiple times getting calls and repair updates and never recieved any of them. I never recieved a call from the case manager I was promised. As of Monday I was told I was going to get a call from a 'Customer Relations representative' within 3 business days. I'm going to wait, but I'm getting steadily more impatient with this whole process as I was intially told this was going to be a 1-2 week process (not a month+) . I hate being left in the dark every time I'm on the phone and can't get any details about the repair process; each representative has stated that there hasn't been any updates in the depot for over a month. Why is the laptop just sitting there, are the replacement touchpads defective too?

No. I was also promised calls.  Never received one.  I asked for emails.  Not one in over a month. I will be asking for an RMA when/if I get the laptop back.  I can't chance this thing breaking down and having to go through this again.
