Lenovo Y40-70 GPU possibly dead? help needed

2017-06-24, 4:39 AM

I've had my Lenovo Y40-70 with 8 GB RAM, Intel i7-4510U, and AMD Radeon R9 M275 for almost exactly three years. I'll admit I've used it heavily for gaming.  Recently  my computer will freeze up and then enter a black screen, but still seem to be on, anytime the GPU is enabled. The only way to recover the computer then is to reboot in safe mode, disable the GPU in device manager, and restart.  Then the computer is completely usable, but only the integrated graphics card can be used. I've tried cleaning out the AMD drivers and freshly installing the newest drivers, but the same issue happens as soon as the install is about to complete. Could there be a way to fix it, or do you think my GPU has bit the dust? Thanks for any help.

I think it would be good to note also that my computer was originally windows 8.1, but I've since updated to windows 10.
