Lenovo Y410P only loads "Lenovo" logo, won't boot up!

2016-02-16, 20:34 PM

Hi, my just over a year old laptop will not load. I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and ever since I did i've been having "blue screens of death" errors. There were a couple, but most of the time it was a "watchdog" error that would happen instead of the usual booting up of Windows after being off for a while it would just come up with an message saying it was recovering from an error and then eventually it would load windows and everything would be fine.

But no more. Just got back from being gone for the weekend and the computer no longer loads anything but the Lenovo splash logo.

Any ideas on what might be causing this? Is my hard drive or ram fried? Any thing I can do?

(I've tried pressing F2, Fn and any other key combinations I can think of. I've been looking online for answers and have yet to find someone with the same issue. Other people seem to be at least able to get into the BIOS, but I can't seem to do that, either.)

Thanks in advance!

I've experienced this odd circumstance myself. In may case, the computer just randomly got stuck on the Lenovo splash screen without any prior indication as to why that would happen.

Everytime it does happen however, the fix is extremely easy. I simply unplug everything from my computer's ports. USB ports that is (and the SD card slot). Boots right up when turned on with empty ports, and then you can plug everything back in. I suppose the computer is getting confused as to what to boot from? No idea, but let us know if that works.

Better go back to Win 8.1 with your backup image then. The drive isn't bootable or trashed info and cannot continue further. Impossible to trouble shoot from what you've indicated anyway.

How would I access my backup image? I can't get past the splash screen.

Typically I have a usb for the mouse attached, but nothing else. I have tried unplugging it and then restarting, but didn't make any difference.

So I figured out the solution. It was a bad microSD card.

The one in my wife's phone said there was no microSD card installed when we hadn't taken it out. So I took it out and put it into the laptop SD slot. I can't say I understand why that kept the computer from turning on, but I took it out not even thinking it would change anything and it powered right up as usual!

Hope this helps someone else!

Not to toot my own horn, but I did say ".....I simply unplug everything from my computer's ports. USB ports that is (and the SD card slot). Boots right up when turned on with empty ports..."

Glad you finally decided to remove the SD card though ;)
