Lenovo Y50-70 : Sudden Crash

2015-05-29, 10:24 AM

The machine is not even 2 weeks old since the first start and it already has some issues... LOL

There have been 3-4 crashes since then where there is no blue screen or overheating or hanging up, just a loud pop and instant shutdown.

It is found when the machine is on battery and is during both strenous and non strenous activities (Playing High-end games -> Browsing the internet).

Here I am assuming that all the drivers are up to date because it is recently bought and even then i checked that some of the drivers are updated and also lenovo update confirms this.

Please tell me if you need any other information.

Laptop Specs:-

Lenovo Y50-70 (59-440646)

Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

RAM - 16 GBytes PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz

VRAM - 4Gbytes(GTX 860M) + 1Gbytes(Intel HD Graphics 4600)

BIOS Version - 9ECN37WW(V2.01) by Lenovo

OS - Microsoft Windows 8.1 (6.3) 64-bit (Build 9600)

Hi Sky1409,

As per the dump files there is a issue with the NT file system, please reinstall the operating system and check for the issue. Please take the data backup before reinstalling the operating system.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

Best regards,

No error.

Asi said; All it gives is a loud pop like noise and the system shuts down instantly.

On boot there are no complications neither is there any prompt for the sudden crash except taking a bit longer to boot which i think is due to the sudden shut down and not being able to go through the normal process of shutting down.

As for dump files, you will have to help me find them.

Thanks for the quick reply though.

Hi Sky1409,

To find the dump files go to C:\Windows\Minidump\Minidump.dmp and extract the dump files and kindly share.

You can also try running the LSC( Lenovo solution center) diagnostics and share the results.

Click here for the LSC diagnostics.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

Best regards,

Here is the dump file: Dump File

As for LSC, I found that it will not work for my laptop as it is not one of the supported model types for it.

I am having the same problem. I did clean install the Windows 8.1 pro. Still it crashed especially when I played GTA 5 or heavy games.
