Re: Lenovo Y50-70 WiGig upgrade

@m4800wigi m.2 WiGiG cards, both QCA and Intel, are basically two devices in one case. WLAN+BT part uses one pcie lane, WiGiG part uses other pcie lane, they are totally independent. So, this adapter with jumper is very nice design, allowing to choose active pcie lane. Found it accidentally, actually - was searching for m.2 b-key to m.2 a-key adapter, which doesn't seem to exist, but this one should solve your problem.

Here are connector adapters for you - but I suggest you either use 7260 AC minipcie card for WLAN+BT in first minipcie slot, and 18260 inside adapter with jumper in other minipcie slot - or use your Fenvi adapter with 9260 WLAN+BT card, it is much better than 7260/8260, and again 18260 in second slot.

Communicating by e-mail is not a good idea - other people may have same questions, so it is better if discussion stays public and they can read this.

@m4800wigi I misunderstood you - and linked adapters for WLAN part of previous post, not WiGiG. Wilocity used some weird connector size for WiGiG, it isn't used anywhere else AFAIK. You won't be able to use Wilocity antenna with Intel (or QCA for that matter), so why bother?

E notch is where DP lanes are. Your minipcie slots do not carry DP signal, so you can either cut the notch (which will be very hard without damaging the adapter), or cut the card like @Chris_DB did. If you want to have display functionality on your machine, you either use USB to displayport (or hdmi) adapter connected to dock, or get QCA WiGiG instead of Intel.

9260 can deliver 1733Mbps with compatible router and has Bluetooth 5, while 7260/8260/8265 are 867Mbps and Bluetooth 4.x.

AHHH, i read about bluetooth 5, ok i will invest in 9260

ok, so as i have key a

you are telling me i should cut my key a card, so that i can fit it into that key-e swtichable adaptor

but does this mean that i will not have the ability to plug my monitor into the wld15 dock

i really like the wireless dock for usb, and ethernet and monitor when i was on windows 8

i really want it now windows 10

i think you are righut about weird connector size for wigig on wilocity cards as it is the same size on the dw1601 and the more modern key e wilocity qca m.2 card

ok so basically, considering i purchased a second wld15 i will use that antenna spare, put it in my laptop lid, .... and i need to find somewhere that will make me a LONG wire from lid to laptop body, with two female connectors of x.fl

any advice where would be best to get such a wire

i say two female ends, because i presume the connector on the antenna and card are males (pin middle sticking out)

ps, if this does mean i will loose the vga/hdmi/dp ports on my wigig wld15 dock

why can i not just buy a usb to hdmi adaptor and plug my monitor in to it, and plug the usb adaptor into a usb socket on the dock

that way making my monitor wireless from my m4800 laptop (plugged into dock)

@m4800wigi Get an LCD cover with WiGiG cable and antenna for newer Dell instead of second WLD15, E7X50 or newer. I got Lenovo cable separately, it cost me very much and was pointless because I had to buy the cover with antenna anyway - so don't follow my mistakes, just get the cover - and you will be able to sell it after you take antenna and cable, for almost the same price. Connector on WiGiG antenna is indeed the same as on the card.

You can indeed just buy USB3 video adapter and connect to WiGiG dock, to make your monitor wireless.
