Hi JerryLoh,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I believe that your immediate concern right now is to get your data out of the harddrive.

Removing the drive and slaving it on a harddrive enclosure then connecting it on another machine can help.

Booting the computer with a live rescue media such as here may also be an option as well as to check if the harddrive itself is still ok and readable.

Once you have backed up your files then restart the machine tapping FN + F2 to access the BIOS and check if the harddrive is still being detected. You can load the defaults of the BIOS too and save.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi JerryLoh

Do not take the recovery option just yet as this may lead to data lost through it factory One Key Recovery.

Your documents and application can be deleted and everything may restore the way it was when you first got your machine.

Try backing your files first and choose the BIOS to see if the harddrive is still being detected.

If it is, then it may just be a corrupted Windows and then would be a chance to get your information out and perform recovery / repair afterwards.

Regards

Your suggestion of backing up of my files is to extract my harddisk and transfer my files?

Currently now now when I start up I’m getting this. Repairing drive...

should I wait and let it load even if it is a black screen?

Hi JerryLoh,

Greetings.

Since it is trying to repair it now, maybe you can allow it to finish hoping that it can recover after this.

While it is doing it, you can maybe call in your IT guy and inform them about options of backing your files later.

Discuss them the suggestion of manually removing the harddrive to an enclosure or booting on a live rescue image to try and backup your data. They maybe able to share their tools to get things done easier if the repair did not work.

Regards

Hi thank you for your time you took to reply me. But due to my urgency to retrieve my lost data, I woke up and went straight to a Lenovo service center and got it fixed. It was a windows update issue. Therefore they helped me to extract my hard disk and I backed it up. Right now I’m reformatting my laptop. So far it is working fine. All I lost was just some programs and old files which I chose not to back it up due my urgent need for my laptop. Thanks.
