Re: Lenovo Z500 - Cannot adjust brightness in Windows 10, need fast help..

2019-01-31, 9:31 AM

This is what worked for me.

  1. Press Windows key
  2. Type "regedit"
  3. Press F3 in regedit to open the search dialog box (or select "Edit" menu)
  4. Type "FeatureTestControl" (no quotes) then click "Find Next"
  5. Once FeatureTestControl is found right click it and select "Modify" (see image showing the edit dialog box)
  6. Replace the original value (F000) with F008. I only changed the value in the first place it found "FeatureTestControl"

On my Ideapad Z500 this value now appears 3 places where FeaturetestControl can be found  as follows :

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\{8B6C0F89-70C1-11E8-AFC3-A8D8EC97F9F6}\0000

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\{8B6C0F89-70C1-11E8-AFC3-A8D8EC97F9F6}\0002

Its always a good plan to backup your registry before tinkering.

I hope that helps but please don't ask what it all means!

tnx. Here I tried this one: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001 and changed the Value to f008. After years of trials the first positive hit.

Once you’re happy it’s a fix, could you mark it as an “Accepted Solution” as prompted earlier in the posts. Thanks

Bei mir geht es so:

mache eine Textdate mit einem Text-Editor "Helligkeit-einstellen.txt" mit folgenden Zeilen:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001]
"FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f008

G

Viel Erfolg! GH 20200302234225

Sometimes, so in my registry, there is not only 0001, but also 0002. Add the same Value "FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f008 there like this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001]
"FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f008

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002]
"FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f008

This worked today with the latest update Driver  win64_15.33.53.5161

Win10 build 21 354.1

Good luck. George
